Past. Present. Future.
What draws you to a certain piece of jewelry? Does it make you feel emotional or sentimental when you look at it? Do you feel happy, sad, reflective, or spiritual when you wear it? What story does it tell about you?
I create jewelry that demands an emotional connection. Many of my pieces use remnants from the past. When you see a Victorian-era locket, you can’t help but daydream about its journey through the years and how it landed in your hands today. Just by holding it, you feel the love shared between the original owner and the figure who once filled the frame. You know that this unspoken connection can live on through you and yours.
The craftsmanship of yesteryear is different than the jewelry of today. It’s fine, delicate, and fragile. It’s about love, not bling. It’s personal, not perfect. I was 11 years old when my Grandma gave me her delicate gold wedding ring with three tiny diamonds in it. Even though it wasn’t grand or elaborate, I instantly understood the sentiment it held. I fell in love with the idea of wearing something so beloved, passed down from my family. (Thank you, Grandma.) My life changed forever that day.
Because many of my pieces are antique and one-of-a-kind, they require a wide array of design elements and techniques such as gold and silversmithing, stone setting, stamping, engraving, etching, Precious Metal Clay technique, lost wax casting, drawing, and wire wrapping. Over the past 30 years, I’ve become a collector of techniques like these. It’s what I love most about doing what I do: learning, growing, and fine-tuning the design process. I fall in love with it every day.
But it’s not about me—it’s about you. It’s about the connection you have with your jewelry. It’s about the story it tells you, and the story it tells about you. It’s about love, meaning, and using the power of history to make something new today and tomorrow.
Your past. Your present. Your future. That’s a story worth telling.
